A Powerful Recipe for Health
I have been teaching Tai Chi to adults for over 30 years. In 1997 I earned my Ph.D. in Neurophysiology for UT. I bring science and the mind-body arts of Tai Chi and Chi Kung together like nobody else can. You will learn how to practice this healing method and WHY it works. You will understand how modern science is discovering that ancient martial arts masters had a deep understanding of the human body and mind.
What is Tai Chi?
Tai Chi is an excellent exercise option for adults of all ages due to its gentle, low-impact movements that emphasize balance, flexibility, and overall well-being. Here are some key benefits of practicing Tai Chi:
Benefits:
- **Improved Balance and Coordination**: Tai Chi helps enhance balance and coordination, reducing the risk of falls—a significant concern for seniors.
- **Increased Flexibility and Strength**: The slow, deliberate movements help improve flexibility and build muscle strength without putting undue stress on the body.
- **Stress Reduction**: The meditative nature of Tai Chi promotes relaxation and reduces stress, contributing to better mental health.
- **Enhanced Mobility**: Regular practice can increase range of motion and joint mobility, which is particularly beneficial for those with arthritis or joint stiffness.
- **Better Cardiovascular Health**: Tai Chi can improve heart health by lowering blood pressure and improving circulation.
- **Cognitive Benefits**: Some studies suggest that Tai Chi may enhance cognitive function and delay the onset of dementia-related symptoms.
What is Chi Kung?
Chi Kung, also spelled Qigong, is a traditional Chinese practice that combines physical postures, breathing techniques, and focused intention to cultivate and balance the body’s vital energy, known as “qi” or “chi.” It is considered both a form of exercise and a meditative practice, with roots in Chinese medicine, philosophy, and martial arts.
What is Open Focus?
If you have had trouble meditating, then Open Focus is perfect for you. With no experience or skill in meditation, you will experience a meditative state within 5 minutes and feel the full restorative impact. This practice is a guided exercise and is based on solid research in neurofeedback. Master Joe Schaefer is a certified Open Focus coach trained by the founder of this revolutionary system.
