Kung Fu Makes Kids More COnfident
Kids everywhere are suffering from a lack of confidence. They are missing the inner discipline and focus that helps them build pride and self-esteem. Kung Fu is the one activity that can bring this change.
Focus
Doctors, teachers and parents agree that Kung Fu helps kids learn how to focus on tasks and achievements.
Inner Discipline & Patience
Kids learn how to stay on a path to reach a goal. They learn to work hard and delay gratification in the pursuit of skill and rank.
Confidence & Self-Esteem
Our belt system keeps kids moving forward and celebrating milestones along the way. These accomplishments & successes aid children in building personal power and character.
Safety
Simple, effective self defense skills, and confidence keep children in the safe zone.
Fitness
Children develop a natural life of fitness, strength and flexibility when they train in Kung fu.
How The Online Program Works
We offer a free single trial class or the chance to take an entire week for $1.
Now The Fun Begins
After their first week they are invited into the larger group of kids. Each class starts with a short warm up and stretch routine. Then we use Online breakout rooms to divide them up into smaller groups to work with instructors.
Progressing
They will test for new levels (belts) right in the online platform in front of an instructor and the test will be based on their memorization of movements and the physical ability to execute them.
Types of Classes
There are material classes twice a week and a new “Kids Warrior Class” once a week to develop their basic skills for striking, strength and endurance.
The Online Platform
We use ZOOM to broadcast our teaching to the students. You will be given a website URL to access the classroom. You will need to have a laptop or similar device. You will need a camera for that device, microphone and speakers. Almost all laptops have these already installed. Of course you will need an internet connection as well.
BONUS
If you can connect your laptop or device to a TV then it is a HUGE plus for your child.

Instructors That Lead/Assist Our Kids’ Classes
We have many of them because we pride ourselves in having the smallest number of students per teacher for more individual attention.

I can’t believe I’m coming up on 9 years studying martial arts with my son and daughter at Austin Kung Fu & Tai Chi! My only regret is not starting my journey much earlier in life. You will fit in if you choose to join this school. All you have to do is take that first step.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
My 7 year old daughter is just starting Kung Fu, but I have so far been very impressed with Shaolin-do North Austin Kung Fu and am very glad to have found them. When my daughter finished her first class she ran over to me and yelled “Daddy, I really like this place!”. Apparently, even my 7 year old daughter is able to appreciate the difference in what she learned here versus the first place she tried.
Anyway – we are still early in our Kung Fu journey, but so far we are very happy to have found Shaolin-do.

I’ve been taking my son for a little over a month now after researching school after school. This seemed to be the best priced with the best teachers, and I was right!
I love it and so does my 5 year old son. The instructors are so kind and really care about the kiddos. They’re great with them! And there’s usually about 3-5 instructors so the groups are usually divided into 2-5 kids at a time, meaning more time for instruction.
This is a great way to boost your child’s confidence while having fun and teaching them discipline. It’s awesome to see my son get excited when he earns a stripe on his belt and work towards getting the next one!
My 9 yo son has been studying kung fu here for several years. He has grown a lot in that time, and is focused and dedicated in class. We appreciate the leadership here for their consistent warmth and guidance!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Since I started the training, I have gained more self-confidence and a second family. The people there are sincere and caring and have become my second family. We know each others children and are all interested in their well-being.
Both my daughters have taken on the interest of learning the art and are now a second degree black belt and soon to be a black belt. They have both gained self confidence and skills that are invaluable. Knowing that they can protect themselves is a comfort to me.”
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Brady is still going to this Kung Fu school. He turns 14 next month. He is working on his second degree black belt. He says he sees himself going to college in Austin, and still being a student here. He hopes to be an instructor here one day. He is a lifelong member. No regrets!
A Parent Shares an Amazing Story
About a year ago, Keegan wanted to start taking kung fu. We did a free trial class with North Austin Kung Fu, and although he was pretty disappointed that he didn’t get to break any boards or smash any piles of bricks on the first day, we signed up to keep taking classes. I was pretty skeptical because he was so off balance and seemed uncoordinated. It didn’t seem to happen naturally for him like some of the other kids in class or even other sports he’s participated in. I was shocked at myself when I teared up watching him test for his first new belt only a few classes later. He was bursting with pride. About a month in, he was able to participate in a tournament and earned two trophies! I’ve earned ONE in my entire life, and it wasn’t as big as his lowest place trophy at age FOUR. Although I sometimes find myself frustrated at his lack of enthusiasm in a given moment, he always says he wants to keep training, and here we are a year later. Today, he got a new uniform as he’s outgrown his first one, and a new bo staff to begin training with. As I reflect on this last year in kung fu, I feel grateful to North Austin Kung Fu for creating an environment where my child feels safe enough to fail forward, supported enough to keep trying, and where the instructors are knowledgeable enough to accept effort over perfection at this age. Keegan has learned so much more than sparring and Short Kata techniques. He’s learning to be patient with himself. He’s learning that it’s about progress, not perfection. He’s learning that he’s not always going to be successful on the first try, all things I wished I had learned earlier in life. Most importantly, he’s learning how to learn from others, how to speak up for himself when he doesn’t understand, and he’s experiencing that by accomplishing short-term goals, you can get closer to achieving a bigger goal. So today, we proudly display a new yard sign hoping for others to begin this amazing journey with their own children or even for themselves. Our school didn’t miss a beat in moving to a remote learning model, and although there’s no replacement for training in person, Keegan has still received quality instruction and has continued to progress through his belt rankings. I’m becoming quite spoiled with not having to spend extra money or time on transportation and at having the ability to get dinner started during warmups. From a visual standpoint, I feel so much more equipped to help him train between classes because I’m now literally on top of the instruction rather than many feet away trying to use my device to see to keep up. “Thank you” just doesn’t feel like enough.
